Selective desaturation

“What could be more important than a little something to eat?” – Winnie the Pooh

This is an experiment with selective desaturation given that the subject is nearly all black & white. The pink tongue, though, immediately becomes the focal point. The subject is a young sloth bear trying to get at some food stuck on a rock. I shot this last week at the Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary near Hampi in the state of Karnataka in India.

“Color is distracting in a way, it pleases the eye but it doesn’t necessarily reach the heart. Emotions come through much stronger in black and white.” – Kim Hunter
